Her combined experience in the classroom and as an examiner gives her a strong understanding of both how students are taught to approach GCSE English and how their work is ultimately assessed. She understands the features examiners are looking for in a strong response and where students commonly lose marks.

Gabriel is an experienced English teacher and GCSE examiner who has been examining GCSE English since 2022. Alongside his examining work, he has taught English in London secondary schools for more than six years and currently works as both an English teacher and More Able Lead.
His experience spans classroom teaching, academic support and examination assessment, giving him a strong understanding of how students develop their English skills and how those skills are assessed under exam conditions. Gabriel completed his teacher training and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) at UCL Institute of Education and holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Literature from Birkbeck, University of London.

Holly is an experienced English teacher and Lead Examiner, with more than 16 years’ teaching experience and over 9 years’ examining experience.
Alongside examining students’ work, Holly has also worked as a Team Lead Manager, giving her extensive experience in applying mark schemes consistently and understanding the standards expected from examiners. She holds a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Sheffield.
