Give Your Examiner What They Want
Every year, I see students make the same mistakes. They say, “I’ll memorise X, use it in my exams and cross my fingers I’ll get it right”. This is a mistake. Why? You’re making your exams about YOU when it’s really about YOUR EXAMINER.
💡 Your revision should have your examiner in mind. Give them what they want and passing your exams will be EASY!💡
I explain this in my latest YouTube video:

I always mention this in my ✨Sunday GCSE masterclasses✨: 90% of students never think about the person marking their script. They think their “examiner” is a robot in a dark room somewhere doing their marking.
That’s why last year, 40% of students failed their GCSEs.. they weren’t answering their exams with their EXAMINERS in mind!
But if you’re reading this, I’ll let you in on a secret… Ready? 😉
🙎♂️ Your examiner is a human being.
👩🏫 They are an English teacher.
📚 They LOVE reading and it breaks their heart a little when they see careless spelling errors, poor punctuation and lazy sentences.
GIVE YOUR EXAMINER WHAT THEY WANT:
Ok let’s get to it. What do your examiners want? Firstly, get your spelling right. Add good quotes. Have a good paragraph structure. But what excites them? BUZZWORDS!
TOP 5 GCSE BUZZWORDS:
These are the top tier words to use in ANY English Essay:
1️⃣ Society: you will always have an excuse to add this word in any essay!
2️⃣ Dramatic tension: this means anticipation or uncertainty - easy win!
3️⃣ Subverts our expectations: writers ALWAYS do this
4️⃣ Pathos: this is a pro-tip - it means “a feeling of pity”
5️⃣ This challenges the reader to consider...: when you analyse, start with this!
In my upcoming 🐣Easter GCSE Literature Paper 1 & 2 Masterclasses (7-13 April)🐣 I go over how to include these buzzwords, weave them into solid essays and how to go up by 3 GCSE Grades in 1 Week. I hope to see you there. ❤️
