YOUR GCSE CHECKLIST:

1️⃣ Writer's INTENT: Memorise writer’s intent across all your set texts!

2️⃣ Your INTERPRETATION: For each of your set texts, think of YOUR OWN POINT OF VIEW and memorise the phrase you’ll have as your “alternative interpretation” (which you contrast to the writer’s intent.

3️⃣ Versatile QUOTES: Pick and cram 3 versatile quotes that overlap characters & themes for each text

4️⃣ Paragraph STRUCTURE: Pick what you like (I personally love PEEL Paragraphs) and USE IT

5️⃣ Question KEY WORDS: Always start any exam by highlighting the key words, make them your central focus and mention them throughout your essay.

6️⃣ DISCOURSE MARKERS: Use words like “firstly”, “moreover”, “however” at the start of each of your paragraphs - write fluidly with smooth transitions

7️⃣ Never forget CONTEXT: Memorise your top 3 context points for each set text

8️⃣ Ambitious VOCABULARY: Examiners hate lazy language, use clever words

9️⃣ Always PLAN: It's clear which essays are planned & essays that not planned. Unplanned essays go all over the play; they are hard for your examiner to mark. Spend a few minutes planning your answer!
